The talented Pam Parisi has started a monthly project pairing a specific quotation with an image . She has challenged me and a group of our photography friends to post our own interpretation of the same quote on the 15th of each month.
When she sent this quote, I immediately thought of this image of Nolan, just three months old, in my mother’s arms.
Four years later…she is no longer here. And yet she is. In his blue eyes, the same shade as hers. In his hilarious laugh. And when the thought that he will never be held by those same hands again punctures me, I remember that her end was really a new beginning too.
Photo+Quote is a monthly series that I’m using to dig deeper into my own archives. You can see how the other photographers in the series interpreted this month’s quote by following the blog hop to Anjuli Francois of Houston, Texas.
Love this! And I can imagine how special it is for you to look at this picture! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words and starting this project! I loved having a reason to go back and edit an image from my pre-editing days.
DeleteSo true, Deirdre! Just shows you how special our photos are - I'm sure this one means so much to you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jennifer! I enjoyed getting to you via your site---I'm a Soulemama fan too:)
DeleteThanks for sharing that! I'm sure that makes Nolan even more special to you guys!!! Like Jennifer said, it shows how special our photos can be.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brad!
DeleteSuch a beautiful moving photograph. I think you captured this quote perfectly!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tami. Amazing how many different ways it was interpreted.
DeleteWhat a cutie! A very special photo capturing an even more special memory. Perfect.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim!
DeleteAs a mother to children without a Mum of her own here, I understand. My own mother never met my children and it's such an amazing memory you have to know that she knew and loved Nolan. I love the emotion behind your image.
ReplyDeleteI've been so torn up that Nolan probably won't have his own memories of my mom, but you have given me perspective. I'm grateful for the time we did have, and grateful for the photos we captured. Thank you, Hope.
DeleteSuch a precious, precious picture Deirdre!
